RAIL Amtrak, a vital link along the southern California corridor has a station in Oceanside, a city adjoining Carlsbad to the north. It offers passengers a choice of regularly scheduled trains on the San Diego / Los Angeles line, the most heavily traveled Amtrak line in the country. A more adventurous option is to ride the Coaster, a commuter train between San Diego and either of the two Coaster stations in Carlsbad. The Metrolink, a high-speed lightweight commuter train also uses the nearby Oceanside Transit Center. It provides travelers rail system service to and from Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside, and North San Diego County.
